The Brazilian Confederation of Shotokan Karate - CBKS, was founded in 1994, and official representative in Brazil of the Japan Karate ShotoFederation - JKS, the Master Tetsuhiko Asai “in memorian”. It is a non-profit civil society, which aims to develop the practice of Karate in Brazil. Its founder is the great Master Sadamu Uriu - 8º Dan, who brought the Karate for Brazil in 1959 and currently holds the position of Honorary President of the entity. The board, which has term of two years, was elected in the Annual General Meeting by the affiliated federations, which represent the states. The members of the board do not receive any kind of payment, fixed or variable, for the functions they perform. Offering its affiliates:
• opportunity to participate in competitions local, state, national and international, through their performance and direct affiliation to CBKS / JKS;
• courses and programs for improvement for the athletes and teachers with experienced teachers and graduates of Brazil and Japan.
